Permit Place 1 is primarily a bait shop and conveniently located just off the I-45 Feeder Road at 6506 Fm 1374 Rd in New Waverly, Texas. The business is a Christian-based, woman-owned business and operated by family members during the day. Laura Garcia is the owner and joins in tending the store during the late afternoon and evenings, unless providing education classes. Laura has been in business since September 16, 2006. She is very appreciative of the strong customer base in and around the New Waverly area, along with the out of area lake regulars that come by to visit.
She has an onsite bait shop and store for all things fishing, hunting and select camping items. The live and artificial bait supply will satisfy most fishermen’s needs for all of Lake Conroe. But more specifically, for the Northern end of the Lake such as the Stubblefield and Cagle Park areas, in addition to Huntsville’s State Park, Sam Houston National Park. Laura is a Texas Parks and Wildlife trained instructor and obtained her licensing prior to the first business day.
The State of Texas has authorized her as an instructor for basic education and skills training such as the Texas Parks and Wildlife Hunter Education course, first time fishing instruction and other related courses. She is authorized to sell all fishing and/or hunting licensing and stamps. Recently, she obtained her Federal duck and water fowl certification and is able to sell these specialized stamps. Laura provides onsite education courses with a live fire range or other training events such as the skills trail (basic trail survival skills training). In addition, she will travel and teach off site based classes as needed at other locations.
During March, the Texas Hunter Education Instructor Association (THEIA) awarded her for the hard work and dedication to providing this area’s need for Hunter Education. She is also a member of the International Hunter Education Association and is able to provide additional information and services for specialty requests. Recently, she attended the Texas Youth Hunter Education Challenge and provided sponsorship for the event through education classes and assisting throughout the event weekend. Permit Place 1 is a business and is owned and operated by family. Laura is assisted by her father, Frankie Hernandez, who has in excess of 40 years experience in business, sales, management, and remodeling.Also assisted by her husband Richard, and children Jasmine & Nina daily.
Short term future plans include adding a boat safety course and later this year concealed handgun permit and education courses.
